The CLR (Common Language Runtime) was translated, which means .Net can be used/distributed on other platforms than Windows. It's probably time to buy MS stock, because that's huge.

Oh, OK, if that's not enough, then how about Python and Ruby support.

As Jim Hugunin, development leader on Microsoft's CLR team has said, "Now you can write your [Python code], and run it in any browser anywhere with an amazing set of APIs behind you. The Silverlight rendering is just great fun to play with."
