RSS is yet another channel you can use to distribute your content. This content can include news, event listings, product revisions or updates, and much more. It's 100% opt-in, and since it's subscription based, you have an audience that inherently has a desire to hear what you have to say. It also isn't just an individual on the other end of the feed. You might find your RSS feed displayed on other web sites, adding additional qualified traffic and search engine rank to your web site.

What is RSS? To keep it simple, just consider it to be automatically refreshed links of high interest that lead back to your web site. You can have multiple RSS feeds that cover a myriad of content. Did you just announce a new product introduction or add another seminar to your road show? Your outgoing RSS feed will alert all of your subscribers with no further effort on your part.

You can catch the individual subscribers by simply offering up an RSS feed on your site, and a portion of your visitors will subscribe. There are also news aggregators that you can register with, where you categorize and list your individual RSS feeds, much like listing individual site pages on a search engine. These aggregators essentially act as RSS search engines. In this way, you reach a much broader audience, and increase your chance of being noticed.

And don't forget, just as you can add value to others with your outgoing RSS feeds, you can also add value to your site with incoming RSS feeds.
